Worrisome Gap in the Labor Force
With 4.2 million employees over 60 years old, only 2.6 million young individuals are entering the labor market as new workers. This analysis shows that in 398 municipalities in Germany, this gap is strongly felt, and its consequences for the country's economy could be severe.
Experts believe that the imbalance between older and younger workers could lead to a decrease in productivity and economic growth. While the older generation is soon to retire, the younger generation is reluctant to enter this field due to unfavorable market conditions and a lack of opportunities.
Germany must think of immediate solutions to manage this crisis and steer the young generation towards interesting and sustainable jobs. Otherwise, the future of the job market in this country will be significantly affected.
