In an unexpected turn of events, the Bundeswehr successfully attracted over 40,000 applications from candidates in June 2023. This figure represents a significant increase of 25 percent compared to last year and could serve as a warning for other sectors that attract young people.
Why Has This Increase Occurred?
Given the global conditions and rising tensions in certain areas, military service is seen as an attractive option. Additionally, it seems that the Bundeswehr's efforts to improve working conditions and offer more benefits to personnel have been influential in attracting young people. Alongside this, the number of new hires in this organization has also increased, indicating an urgent need for new personnel.
These changes clearly reflect a shift in the younger generation's attitude towards military service and its importance in national security. It remains to be seen how long this trend will continue and whether the Bundeswehr will be able to manage this demand.
